In the evocative space of La Pelanda in MACRO Testaccio, Bernardo Siciliano presents Naked City, an exhibition curated by Maria Ida Gaeta and Lea Mattarella: on display large canvases of female nudes and small or medium sized paintings of New York, where the artist has been living for more than ten years.

Nudes and the city. The inside and the outside, the interior and the exterior: New York city, with its narrativity, its repertoire of icons, signs, prototypes, puts the gaze of the artist to test. Bernardo Siciliano addresses the challenge with the essential concentration, dedication, feverish excitement, reflection and neglect. The paintings in this exhibition are the product and the effect of this tension, of this test and challenge. Once again, they play with the concept of inside and outside, inside and outside the artist’s self.
